Vanity Flair
Vanity Flair turns phone numbers into words and words into phone numbers. Dial a number and it lists the readings that cover the most digits, like 438-468-6824 as GET-IN-TOUCH. Type a word and it gives you the number. It checks every US and Canadian area code as you type, and RND suggests a number that spells something.

What problem does it solve?
Picking a memorable phone number means juggling a keypad in your head. You either have a number and wonder what it spells, or have a word and need its digits. Vanity Flair does both, and tells you whether the area code is real before you go shopping for the number.
How it works
Dial digits on the keypad and the screen lists readings that cover the most of the number, favouring common words, so 438-468-6824 comes up as GET-IN-TOUCH and 514-625-5425 as 51-GOAL-KICK. Type letters and it shows the number they dial. Once three digits are in, it names the city, state or province and country for that area code, or says it is not in service. RND dials a random number that spells something.
Whom it’s for
Small businesses choosing a line, anyone curious about what their own number spells, and people who still remember tapping 7 four times to get an S.

Frequently asked questions
What is a vanity number?
A phone number chosen because its digits spell something on a keypad, like 1-800-FLOWERS. They are also called phonewords.
How do I find the words in a number?
Dial the digits. Vanity Flair lists readings ranked by how much of the number they cover, then by how common the words are.
Can it turn a word into a number?

Which area codes does it know?
Every area code in service in the US and Canada. It names the city, state or province and country as soon as you type the first three digits.

Yes, and you can switch that off to keep words inside the last seven digits.
Does it send my numbers anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
