Playfolio

Playfolio turns ozgur.design into a pixel town you explore on foot. Every building is a page of the portfolio, and the case studies wait behind locked doors. Locals have opinions, a changing cabin offers twelve looks, and the post office sends telegrams to the designer.

A pixel-art town at night. A character in a pork-pie hat with a red visor stands beside a stone fountain in a cobbled plaza under an OZGUR.DESIGN arch. Around the plaza are a row of posters, a pink photo booth with a grey cat beside it, an old man on a bench, a garage signed TOOLS and a mechanic by its door.

What problem does it solve?

Portfolios all look alike, and most visitors leave within seconds. This one asks them to stay and walk around. The same work is there, and getting to it is half the fun.

How it works

Walk with the arrows, WASD, a click or a tap. Each building tells you about part of the work. Takes, Tools and Tinkering each have a building, the observatory looks out at ozjective, and Oz’s house sits down the road. The case studies sit on Case Study Avenue behind doors with retinal scanners that never let anyone in. The post office takes telegrams of 140 characters or fewer. Press M for the map, L to change your look and Ctrl to make your character act out. A few things in town only show up once you go looking.

Whom it’s for

Recruiters with five minutes to spare, designers who miss Game Boy afternoons, and anyone who has ordered poutine at 2 AM.

Tech

A single canvas drawn in code. Every building, sprite and letter is drawn as pixels, with no image files. Paths are worked out tile by tile, and the dialogues use a custom pixel font. Telegrams go out through the same form service as the homepage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get into the case studies?

The doors don't open from the street. Send a telegram from the post office and ask.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Tap anywhere to walk there, and tap a building to visit.

Is there a way to win?

No. There's only a way to stay longer.
